■合格の秘訣

　私は高校二年生のときに医療機器を開発する仕事に携わりたいと考えました。そのときに同志社大学を知り、指定校推薦があるということも知りました。推薦をもらうためには、評定や偏差値などの条件を満たしていなければなりません。

　私が高校一年生のときは、部活動に力を入れていました。高校二年生になってから進路のことを考えはじめ、勉強との両立に力を入れました。しかし部活動が終わってからは、一時間の帰り道のために、体は疲れきっていました。さらに、ご飯を食べたり、風呂へ入ったりしているとあっという間に十時を過ぎてしまいました。そこから勉強をしていたので、多くの勉強時間を確保するのは困難でした。それでも一時くらいまでは勉強するようにしていました。また、学校の休み時間の十分間は、英単語などを覚えるのに費やしたり、昼休みは数学に時間を使っていました。部活動が休みの日は放課後、自習室へいき勉強していました。部活動を引退してからは、毎日、自習室へ勉強をしに行きました。

　私の受験内容は、志望理由書と面接でした。初めて志望理由書を書いて、先生に添削して頂いたときは、こんなにもいらない内容があったのかと驚きました。志望理由書を何度も書き直しては添削して頂き、書き上げることができました。面接は志望理由書よりもひどいものでした。面接の練習を始めたころは、志望理由を相手に伝えることすらできませんでした。それでも先生と都合が合う日の放課後は毎日面接練習を行いました。

　受験会場の京都までは、一人で宿泊しに行きました。そんな中でも面接がうまくできたのは、何度も繰り返し行った面接練習や、そこから得た自信があったからだと思います。

　受験を終えてから思うのは、自分に自信をもつことが大切だということです。自信をつけるためには努力が大切になってきます。私は指定校推薦でしたが、他の事に対しても同じことが言えると思います。将来の夢があるのならば、今、何をしなければならないのか・今やるべきことをやっていれば自然と自分に自信がつくと思います。受験期間は、たくさんの人に支えられ、アドバイスをもらってきましたが、最後に頑張るのは自分です。頑張ってください。

■後輩へのメッセージ

　受験までの期間は、長いようで短いです。私は、どのように一日の時間を使うかを、その日にザックリと考えて行動するように心掛けていました。

　勉強の他に、行きたい学校、就職先について詳しく調べておいた方が良いです。また、オープンキャンパスに参加するのも良いと思います。モチベーションが高まるというのもあるのですが、受験のときに一度行ったことがある場所ならば、不安にならないと思います。

　最後に、なかなか自分の思うような結果がでないとき、諦めないでください。そこで諦めてしまう前に、なぜ思うようにいかないのかを考えてみると良いと思います。次に繋ぐチャンスとなります。

'Having Confidence'

When I was in my second year of high school, I wanted to get involved in developing medical equipment. At that time, I learned about Doshisha University, and I also learned that there is a recommendation of designated school. In order to get a recommendation, you have to meet the conditions such as rating and deviation value.

When I was in the first year of high school, I focused on club activities. When I became 2nd year of high school, I started thinking about my career and tried to balance it with my study. But after the club activities, I was tired because I had to go home for an hour. In addition, when I was eating or taking a bath, it passed 10 o'clock in an instant. Since I studied from there, it was difficult to secure a lot of study time. But I tried to study until about one o'clock. I also spent ten minutes during my school break learning English words, and spent my lunch break learning mathematics. I went to study in the study room after school on days when the club activities were off. After retiring from club activities, I went to study in the study room every day.

The contents of my examination were the application form and interview. When I wrote the statement of reasons for applying for the first time and had my teacher revise it, I was surprised that there were so many unnecessary contents. I was able to write it up after rewriting and correcting the statement of reason for application many times. The interview was worse than the application form. When I started practicing for interviews, I couldn't even tell them why I wanted to apply. Even so, we did interview practice every day after school on the day when we were available.

I went to Kyoto and stay alone. I think the reason why I was able to do the interview well in such a situation was because of the confidence I gained from the repeated practice of the interview and from it.

What I think after the exam is that it is important to have confidence in yourself. In order to gain confidence, effort is important. I was recommended to a designated school, but I think I can say the same thing about other things. If you have a dream for the future, what do you have to do now? If you do what you have to do now, you will naturally have confidence in yourself. During the exam period, many people supported me and gave me advice, but it's up to me to do my best. Good luck.

The time to take the exam seems long and short. I tried to think and act quickly on how I would spend the day.

In addition to studying, you should check the school you want to go and the place of employment in detail. Also, I think it's good to participate in the open campus. It is partly because you are motivated, but if you have been there once when you took an exam, you won't be worried.

Finally, don't give up when you don't get the results you want. Before you give up, you should think about why it doesn't work as you want. It's the next chance to connect.
