農学部を新設する大学が増加

今どきの学生から人気を集める理由

　ここ10年近く、４年制大学農学部群の新設ラッシュが続いていて、福島大学でも昨年度から食農学類が設置されました。新設が相次いでいる理由として、農業ジャーナリストの山田優氏は「一番大きいのは、若い世代で農学に対する偏見が薄れてきたから」と述べています。ひとえに農学と言っても、農業工学、農業経済学など７つの基本分野に分かれ、社会の課題に幅広い視点で取り組めます。

　文部科学省の統計でも、農業系で学ぶ学生は2003年で6万9447人だったのが、18年には7万6930人と増加傾向にあり、女子学生の割合も約半数です。また、食品産業の国内生産額は年々規模を拡大し、今や100兆円という成長産業。就職にも強く、企業からも農学系で学んだ生徒は「即戦力」として評価しているようです。　DIAMOND ONLINE 2020.5.26 より >>

For the past 10 years or so, there has been a rush to establish a four-year university Agricultural Department, and Fukushima University established a food and agriculture department last year. One of the reasons for the wave of new projects is agricultural journalist Mr. Yu Yamada, who says, "The biggest reason is that the prejudice against agriculture has faded in the younger generation.". Although it is simply agricultural science, it is divided into seven basic fields, such as agricultural engineering and agricultural economics, and can address social issues from a broad perspective.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the number of students studying agriculture was 69447 in 2003, but it was increasing to 76930 in 2018, and the percentage of female students is also about half. Domestic production in the food industry has expanded year by year, and has now grown to 100 trillion yen. They are also good at finding jobs, and students who have studied agriculture at companies seem to rate them as "immediate capability".
