空気で膨らむ風船型電動バイク

空気で膨らみ自分に最適な形になってくれる、そんな夢の乗り物が、東京大学と株式会社メルカリとの共同研究プロジェクトで開発されています。名前は「poimo」。「Portable（持ち運べる） and Inflatable（膨らませる） Mobility（乗り物）」の略称で、今年10月に行われた国際会議「USIT 2020」で発表されました。

普段は空気を抜き折りたたんでバッグなどに入れて持ち運びが可能です。駅から職場、家から駅など短距離の移動を想定しています。また、専用のソフトウェアを使うと、乗り物をイメージしたポーズを撮影するだけで、ユーザーそれぞれの体格や乗り方に合ったpoimoを、専門家でなくても簡単に設計することが可能です。

先日紹介したMaaS（Mobility as a Service）>> でも、ラスト１マイル（約1.6キロ）をどう移動するかという壁がありますが、poimoはそういう意味でも画期的なものになりそうです。

Electric motorcycles that inflate with air

The University of Tokyo and Mercari, Inc. have jointly developed a vehicle of your dreams that expands with air to become the perfect shape for you. It's called Poimo. It's an abbreviation for "Portable and Inflatable Mobility," and was announced at USIT 2020, an international conference held in October of this year.

Normally, it can be taken out of the air and folded up in a bag or other container. It is designed for short distances, such as from station to office or home to station. In addition, the dedicated software makes it easy for non-specialists to design a poimo that suits each user's physique and riding style by simply taking a picture of the pose of the vehicle.

Mobility as a Service (MaaS), which I introduced recently, has a barrier of how to move the last mile, but poimo is going to be a breakthrough in that sense as well.
