時代の期待（サイゼリアの１円値上げが意味するものは？）
サイゼリアと言えば、「ミラノ風ドリア299円」「ハンバーグステーキ399円」など、値段の末尾が9ばかりでした。昨年の消費増税の際も値上げをしなかったサイゼリアでしたが、7月からたった１円の値上げをし、300円や400円など端数のない値段となりました。
末尾が8や9となるのはスーパーやドラッグストアでは当たり前となっていますが、これはお得感を出すためのもの。498円という値札のほうが500円より魅力的に感じるからです。490円や480円だったらお得感を感じて買うけど、450円だと元々その値段のような気がして購買意欲が低くなるとか。
では、なぜサイゼリアがたった１円の値上げをしてまでお得感を減らしてしまったのか。それは、客や店員がウイルスを媒介しかねない硬貨に触れる機会を減らすのが第1の目的で、それがサイゼリア式「新しい生活様式への対応」というわけです（導入が遅れていたキャッシュレス決済にも8月より順次対応）。
それでも価格が300円や400円程度であれば、百均のように値段を吟味せずに注文できる範囲だろうという判断だそうです。

What does Saizeria "increase of 1 yen" mean?
Speaking of Saizeria, the price was about 9 yen at the end, for example, "Milan-style Doria 299 yen" "Hamburger steak 399 yen". The numbers 8 and 9 are common at supermarkets and drugstores, but they're designed to give you a better deal. Because the price tag of 498 yen is more attractive than 500 yen. If it was 490 yen or 480 yen, I would buy it because I felt it was a good deal, but if it was 450 yen, I felt it was originally that price, and I would be less willing to buy it.
So why did Saizeria raise the price by only one yen? The primary goal is to reduce the chance of customers and store clerks touching coins that can transmit viruses, a Saizerian "Addressing New Lifestyles" (Cashless payment services, which were introduced late, will be gradually introduced from August.).
Even so, if the price is around 300 yen or 400 yen, it is judged that it is within the range where you can order without considering the price like the 100-yen shop.

入試改革のパイオニア早稲田大学。今年は何を ?
早稲田大学は7月1日、世界標準モデルのWeb入試コンソーシアム「The Admissions Office(通称:TAO)」を利用した志願者募集を2020年9月より開始することを公表。
早稲田大学は5,412人と日本国内の全大学で最も多くの外国人留学生を受け入れています。日本の大学の入試プロセスは、大学・学部ごとに異なり、Web出願が可能であっても書類の郵送が必要な場合が多く、海外の志願者にとっては理解しづらいものになっています。
TAOのシステムだと、願書提出の手続きから、選考書類の提出、合格発表まで、すべてを一括管理することが可能で、日英両言語に対応し、学生がひとつのフォームで国内・海外問わず複数の大学に出願できます。
今年度は、早稲田大学国際教養学部、社会科学部および大学院国際コミュニケーション研究科で、入試で必要となる出願書類を、TAOで受け付けることになりました。次年度以降、他学部の募集での利用も検討されています。
早稲田大学はいつも入試改革の先陣を切っていて、数年遅れて他大学が同じものを導入するという傾向があります。優秀な外国人留学生を確保したい大学は今後TAOを導入する可能性がありそうです。

What will Waseda University do this year?
On July 1, Waseda University announced that it will start recruiting applicants from September 2020 using the World Standard Model Consortium for Web Entrance Examinations "The Admissions Office (Common Name: TAO)".
Waseda University has the largest number of international students in Japan, with 5,412. The entrance examination process in Japanese universities differs from university to department, and even if it is possible to apply on the web, it is often necessary to mail documents, making it difficult for foreign applicants to understand.
With the TAO system, you can manage everything from the application submission process to the submission of selection documents and the announcement of successful applicants.
This year, the TAO will accept applications required for entrance examinations at Waseda University's Faculty of International Studies, Faculty of Social Science, and Graduate School of International Communication. From the next year, we are considering using it for recruitment of other departments.
Waseda University is always at the forefront of admissions reform, and other universities tend to introduce the same system a few years later. Universities that want to secure outstanding international students may introduce TAO in the future.

REQUESTS for Parents to pick up and drop off students
Some of the rules for picking up and dropping off private cars in the early morning and evening are not followed and it is very DANGEROUS. We would like to ask you again about transportation by private car.
In order to prevent accidents before they happen, we ask you to get on and off your car either at the North Side Road (side of the student bicycle parking area) or at the 3rd Parking Lot. We ask for the understanding and cooperation of parents so that they can lead a safe and secure school life.
★It is often confirmed that people are picked up by private car in front of or near the service gate in the early morning or after school. We ask for your cooperation in getting on and off at the north side road side (side of the student bicycle parking area).
★It has been confirmed that there is a passenger who can drive a private car into the campus. We ask for your understanding and cooperation so that we can lead a safe and secure school life.

福島大LGBT学生支援
あなたの性尊重します「だれでもトイレ」
福島大は本年度、LGBTに関する理念と対応指針を初めて策定し、正しい理解と偏見や心の壁を取り払うことにつなげようと、LGBTの学生の支援を本格化しました。
学生が自認する性別に基づいて名前の変更を認め、現在は学生が申し出れば、学生証や授業の受講者名簿を通称に変えることが可能となっています。
また、文字通り誰でも使えるよう名付けた「だれでもトイレ」を学内に18カ所設置。LGBTのためだけでなく、障害者にも利用しやすい環境にしました。
ジェンダー・セクシュアリティー研究の専門家である前川直哉特任准教授は「バリアフリーの概念と一緒。誰かが不便と感じることがあれば、それは環境が悪いということ」と話し、取り組みを評価しています。
他にも、日本女子大学が2024年度からトランスジェンダー学生(女子)の受け入れを表明しています。外国人相手のグローバル化も大切ですが、LGBTのような多様性も認めていくことが真のグローバル化と言える気がします。

Support for LGBT students at Fukushima University
For the first time this year, Fukushima University formulated a set of principles and guidelines for LGBT students, and has stepped up its support for LGBT students with the aim of leading them to correct understanding, prejudice and psychological barriers.
Students are now allowed to change their names based on their gender, and if they apply, they can change their student ID card or the list of students in the class to their common name.
There are also 18 "Everyone goes to the toilet." on campus, literally named for everyone. We have made the environment accessible not only for LGBT but also for disabled people.
Special Associate Professor Naoya Maekawa, an expert in gender and sexuality research, said, "Same concept as barrier-free. If someone feels uncomfortable, it means the environment is bad.".
In addition, Japan Women's University has announced that it will accept transgender students (Female) since 2024. It is important to globalize with foreigners, but I feel that recognizing diversity like LGBT is truly globalization.
