『 後悔しない選択 』

■合格の秘訣

　

　私はこの度、日本女子大学文学部英文学科に合格することができました。私は勉強面を振り返ったときに、頑張れたと胸を張って言える自信がないので「合格の秘訣」というテーマにふさわしい話になるかどうか分かりませんが、合格に至るまでの出来事を綴っていこうと思います。

　私は中学生の頃から英語が好きで、大学でも英語を学んでいきたいと、なんとなく思っていました。参加するオープンキャンパスは、毎回英語系の大学でした。英語検定などの外部試験は積極的に受け、最終的には目標としていた二級を取得することができました。定期考査や模試では一番英語に力を入れて、できるだけ良い点数を取ろうと頑張りました。

　しかし、「絶対この大学に行きたい」と思えるような大学がなく、進路の希望調査を書く度に、ころころと志望校が変わっていました。三年の夏休みの三者面談までは、別の大学を一般で受けるつもりでした。先生にもそのように話していました。三者面談の何日後に、日本女子大学の英文学科を紹介して頂きました。それまでは考えたことのない大学だったのですが、ネットでその大学について調べて興味を持ち、八月のオープンキャンパスに参加してみることにしました。学生の方とお話をしたり、日本女子大学の歴史や女子大の強みについての説明を聞くうちに、初めて「この大学で英語を学びたい」という目標が出来上がりました。

　九月の進学分析会で推薦を頂けることが決まり、面接と小論文の練習が始まりました。小論文は元々苦手でしたが、担当の先生が丁寧にご指導くださったお陰で、何とか形にすることができました。また、面接練習や志望理由書の作成を通して、改めて将来の夢について深く考えることができました。

　私は日本女子大学を勧めてくださった先生にとても感謝しています。あのまま自分で悩んでいたら、きっと辿り着くことができなかった進路です。指定校推薦というとあまり良いイメージを持っていない人が多いかもしれませんが、それが最終的に後悔しないと思える選択肢なら、選んでみてもいいと思います。

■後輩へのメッセージ

　私は高校の三年間でやりきれなかったこと、やり残したことが沢山あります。何よりも一番思うのは、「もっと頑張って勉強しておけばよかった」ということです。この合格体験記を書くのも、とてもためらいました。一般受験組より努力が劣っている私なんかが...という気持ちでいっぱいでしたが、反面教師のつもりで書かせていただきました。

　悔いのないように、と口では簡単に言うことができますが、行動に移すのはとても難しいことです。しばらく経ってからでないと自分が悔いを残していたことに気づかないからです。明日から頑張ろう、そう思っているとあっという間に一年が過ぎてしまいます。なかなか難しいとは思いますが、毎日何かに本気で取り組んでみてください。

　皆さんが進路を実現できることを祈っています。

　I have been accepted into the Department of English Literature at Japan Women's University. When I look back on my studies, I don't have the confidence to say with pride that I did my best, so I don't know if this story is appropriate for the theme of "The Secret to Success", but I will try to describe the events leading up to my success.

　I have loved English since junior high school, and I had an inkling that I wanted to study it at university. Every open campus I attended was an English university. I actively took external exams such as English language tests, and eventually I was able to obtain Level 2, which was my goal. I put the most effort into English during the regular examinations and mock exams, and tried my best to get the best score possible.

　However, I didn't have a university that I could think of that I wanted to go to, and every time I wrote a survey on my career choice, I kept changing my choice of school. I was planning to take a general entrance examination at a different university until I had a three-way interview during the summer vacation of my third year. I had told my teachers as much. A few days after the three-way interview, I was introduced to the Department of English Literature at Japan Women's University. I had never thought about this university before, but I researched about it on the Internet and became interested in it, so I decided to attend the open campus in August. I decided to attend the open campus in August. As I talked with students and listened to explanations about the history of Japan Women's University and the strengths of a women's university, I realized for the first time that I wanted to study English at this university.

　In September, I received a recommendation at the college analysis meeting, and I started practicing my interviews and essays. I wasn't good at writing essays to begin with, but thanks to the careful guidance of my teacher, I was able to put them into practice. Also, through interview practice and writing a statement of reasons for applying, I was able to think deeply about my future dreams.

　I am very grateful to the professor who recommended Japan Women's University to me. If I had been worried about my future, I would not have been able to find the path I wanted to take. Many people may not have a good image of designated schools, but if it is an option that you will not regret at all, I think you should choose it.

Message

　There are many things that I didn't get done in my three years of high school and many things that I have left undone. Most of all, what I think about most is that I should have worked harder and studied harder. I was very hesitant to write this testimonial about my success. I was filled with the feeling that my efforts were inferior to those of the general entrance exam group, but I wrote it with the intention of being a reminder.

　It's easy to say that you have no regrets, but it's very difficult to put into action. Because you don't realize that you have left regrets until after a while. I'll start working hard tomorrow, and the year will fly by in the blink of an eye when I think about it. I know it's not easy, but try to really work on something every day.
